Position: Ballroom Dance Teacher
Position Duties:
Direct rehearsals to instruct dancers in dance steps and in techniques to achieve desired effects.
Teach students, dancers, and other performers about rhythm and interpretive movement.
Choose the music, sound effects, or spoken narrative to accompany a dance.
Advise dancers on standing and moving properly, teaching correct dance techniques to help prevent injuries.
Design dances for individual dancers, dance companies, musical theater, special events, and dancers ranging from beginners to professionals.
Train, exercise, and attend dance classes to maintain high technical proficiency, physical ability, and physical fitness levels.
Assess students' dancing abilities to determine where improvement or change is needed.
Attend weekly staff training meetings.
Sell dance lessons, intro packages, etc., to walk-ins and interested parties.
Develop students to reach their ballroom dance goals and beyond.
Teaching group lessons.
Instruct all American-style dances and/or International style.
Study and teach the DVIDA syllabus.
Study and perform all JDB competition routines (Bronze-Gold).
Attend all group classes when not instructing private lessons for continued training.
Attend and host all JDB 1st and 3rd-weekend dance parties. This includes: Cleaning the facility prior to party, Setting up and maintaining all food and beverage throughout the event,
Dancing with all guests, Selling lessons to interested guests, and Cleanup the facility at the end of the party.
Lead guest parties to gather new students. This includes Advertising guest parties to current students to encourage their friends/family to attend, Teaching the lesson and dancing with all
guests, Promoting and selling intro packages at the conclusion of the party, and Setting up and cleaning up at every JDB event.
Maintain personal physical fitness and appearance.
Education/Experience Requirements: 36 months of experience as a Ballroom Dance teacher or similar
